Here we go again!
Another extended trip, but this time the longest one yet….
At our age (Dennis
just turned 70 and I am right behind him), should we be going on a new
adventure?? Staying home sure seems like the "safer" thing to do. Our
pastor last week gave a visual illustration of a mussel he found in a jar. The
mussel felt safe in the jar when it found the jar and was little. But as he
grew he found he could not get out. What felt at first as "safe"
became a "trap." So, since we don't want to feel "trapped"
and who knows what lies ahead, we are going!
Kudos to Tim for
filling in at our house, making sure everything runs smoothly and to neighbors
who watch over as well.
We are traveling to
Minnesota to be work campers for the summer.
What that means is
we get out of the South Texas summer humidity and heat.
We work a couple
days a week in exchange for our campsite and utilities.
We get out of the
South Texas humidity and heat.
We get to use the
owner's pontoon boat to go fishing or ride around the lake!
We get to see a part
of the US we have not seen before.
We get out of the
South Texas summer heat and humidity.
Along the way we
will visit grands, my Uncle Les at the Gene Autry Cowboy Fest,
Dennis's Aunt Lola,
friends in Wichita and so on. We need to
be in Minnesota by May 15. It snowed there this week, so hope hope hope
it gets warmer before we arrive.
There are some
things I will miss.
Monarch coming out of chrysalis |
First blackberries from our vines |
I left 10 chrysalis and got notice today that I am the mother of 5 Monarchs.
Buccees. A must stop for travelers in Texas |
Our backyard |

Many people have
asked me to write the blog so we can stay in touch and can enjoy this time with
us.
Debbie and Chris
will be coming up for a week with us on their way to Michigan for the summer.
There is a nice
hotel down the road from the campground so come on up and join us for a
vacation! Southwest Airlines flies into Minneapolis which is 100 miles south of
where we will be. I will try to write often.
This sounds exciting. My limited experience with Minnesota was thirty years ago at Thanksgiving time. It was COLD and beautiful and the people were wonderful! Enjoy your summer and I'll be looking forward to your blog posts.
ReplyDeleteSuch an exciting time in your lives! Looking forward to not just reading about your adventures, but being a part of them! See you in a couple of weeks!
